Stillness

Those precious moments of stillness.
The timely delivery of His word.
Things I will not take for granted.
Much needed in times like this.
When I lose sight of You,
I must come back. I must.

The Lord his God

So much has been happening, both around and inside me.

Probably feels like a popcorn making machine inside my head (and my heart too).

It is eye-opening to see how God takes one (me actually) on a journey and to TASTE and SEE personally.

And getting involved in the 40-day spiritual formation program, I found myself handed various tasks as the days go by. But if there was any progress I've made, it definitely would be the attitude in receiving.
Receiving these tasks regardless of their glamor, is God's way of molding me, preparing me.

Plus it doesn't help when matters-of-the-heart comes knocking on the door this season. I pondered whether this would be censored here but I guess no, since I treat this as my platform of journal. But no worries to my readers, no names gonna be mentioned here =)

Indeed the Word of God holds many gems and treasures. Do not be mistaken, do not be deceived. The BIBLE is the very Word of our God. A possibility why we doubt what it says because we can't and never be able to comprehend God totally. His ways are higher and He knows exactly what He is doing.

Having to spend my holidays doing school project and completing tasks in church and ministry, I have learned to see things from His perspective. Why am I doing all these? Why don't I use my time to do things that I want to do?

I could, if I lived for myself. The plain and simple truth. If we claim to live for Jesus, to give ourselves to God, then perhaps a good start point is to serve Him with gladness and joy in the very tasks we are given.

And nothing beats the joy of seeing the younger ones coming day after day for the 40-Day S.F.
I pray the 7 of them who have chosen to give this 40 days to God will find Him, find themselves set on fire with a passion for Him and His Kingdom.

Coming back to the hearty-matter, I find myself struggling. Struggling because I'm afraid of my First Love will go out of focus, I'm afraid because I may find myself loving another person more than God Himself. And I know I cannot afford to let that happen. Easy to say, hard to apply. But I keep praying and I'll press on, I'll resolve to overcoming this through surrendering to Him.

Definition of Love has been redefined for me many times. Before knowing God and after, I seek to know the true measure of Love and what it means to really love. I thank God I have gained much insight of the years but I think I have more to comprehend. And I won't stop finding out.

All in all, God is good and has been good to me. I thank You Lord because even when I don't deserve, You still gave. I won't know what is ahead for me and what is coming for me, but one thing I know, I can and I will and I choose to trust You Lord.

The Beauty of His Creation

Oh, my dear friend! You're so beautiful!
And your eyes so beautiful—like doves!~ Song of Solomon 1:15

Allow me to gaze and behold your beauty, for as long as life can be.

All About You

Especially this week, you've been running through my mind pretty much the whole time...
Love, the greatest of all...

Forever Alone

As many commemorate this special day of Valentine's Day spending it with their loved ones or that special someone, it always occurred to me whether V Day is a biblical thing to do.

Nevertheless, I won't be celebrating V Day this year since I'm still single. Not really bugged by the fact and not too sure about the next one, but definitely I have another love to rejoice over. The Love of God.

This is for You God. For all You've done, for Your Love, for Your Grace.

People give flowers, lavish gifts and luxurious meals.
Yet Jesus You gave Yourself, Your life.

Nothing compares to You. Nothing.

Resolutions

And as I embark onto 2012, it hit me that I had not reflected and thought of a verse for 2012.

I have had this practice ever since I accepted Christ back in 2005 when UFS would put a lot of emphasis on stopping and listening, asking God what's next.

As I thought about the verse, I believe God reminded me about loving Him above all.
He put the verse Matthew 22:37 in my mind as I looked for the text.
Looking back, my verse for 2011 was just so fitting as it has been with other years!
My verse in 2011 was 1 John 4:7

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

And back in 2011, I just found myself growing so much closer to some of the people around me especially my friends in church. I have also experienced what it means to love one another when my cell put money together on my birthday to support my mission trip to country M. God is just amazing!

And so I believe in 2012, God will teach me something related to Matthew 22:37 and to bring my faith to a whole new level. I shall not anticipate a good or bad experience but if God can use either experiences to His glory, then I guess it would be always a positive one!

Something interesting though is the strong sensing of love and life partner in me. Maybe 2012 is the year! =)

O Lord my God, reveal Your will to me.

DJ Got Us Falling in Love Again

The song DJ got us falling in love again is actually a secular song.
Well I suppose in my case, it's Jesus got me falling in love again

Just as the past weeks I was praying and hoping for a turning point in my spiritual walk, this weekend's experience was definitely a God-given solution!

Though I wasn't exactly walking through the valley of the shadow of Death, I knew within me that I was drifting away from the Lord. My heart was not as sensitive; the Spirit within me had a deep longing and hunger.

This weekend was a series of activities back to back, and I meant it!
Friday night - YAY! leaders retreat
Friday night to Sat morning - Night Cycling Rally
Sat morning to evening - YAY! leaders retreat

This 36 hour marathon took a toll on me..
After dinner, I knocked out on my bed but thank God, I managed to wake up early for service today.

At the retreat was a wonderful time of fellowship, with Him and others.
It also put a smile in my heart on other matters but shall not be shared here! =P

A movie and reviewing it was never so much fun and experience before!
Under the wonderful guidance of Pastor Simon and Rinda, we touched base on Mark 10 - The Rich Young Ruler. It was a refreshing time and I must say, I am definitely marinated now!

Went to church early today to join in the pre-service prayer at DFF. Was a good time though was just me with Aunt Beng Choo and Aunt Jenny. And I experienced His presence during worship led by Joshua during service. If you are reading this, join me! Go for a prayer meeting pre-service! It helps to get us in tune with the Lord and to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth!

I was praying hard for God to bring forth His power today! Though there wasn't an altar call, I know He's doing something deep down in the hearts of many.

A sidenote to give thanks would be the Yay! ministry Facebook page! As we see many more prayer requests coming in and younger ones beginning to open up in their sharing, this surely must be the Lord's doing!

This weekend ended with lots of food, spiritually and physically! The Lord impressed upon my heart as I was snacking on my chocs earlier...Having exercised my mouth so much, don't forget to exercise the other parts of my body as well.

It was a revelation that as I soak in His love and inputs, I ought to be exercising my faith and be a blessing as well. Lord, I pray that You'll open the doors for me to be a blessing.

Weekend has been an awesome one! And I look ahead to the coming week with all confidence in my Lord Jesus Christ! =)

More than words

More than words is all you have to do to make it real,
then you wouldn't have to say that you love me,
cause I'd already know.

Been an interesting day, particularly ending it with a short conversation with one of my mentoring leaders on the way back to school. It was really an unexpected opinion and I honestly don't wish to accept it (in a good way).

Nevertheless, Lord lead me in Your plans. The plans You have for me. I shall have no fears; no worries. No doubt it may seem like I'm putting all my hopes on it, I know I put my hope in You, that if it is Your very will You will see it through till the end.

It's not about me, it's all about You Jesus =)

Those whom God hath joined together...

O ETERNAL God, Creator and Preserver of all mankind, Giver of all spiritual grace, the Author of everlasting life; Send thy blessing upon these thy servants, this Man and this Woman, whom we bless in thy Name; that, as Isaac and Rebecca lived faithfully together, so these persons may surely perform and keep the vow and covenant betwixt them made, (whereof this Ring given and received is a token and pledge,) and may ever remain in perfect love and peace together, and live according to thy laws; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Those whom God hath joined together let no man put asunder.

GOD the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost, bless, preserve, and keep you; the Lord mercifully with his favour look upon you; and so fill you with all spiritual benediction and grace, that ye may so live together in this life, that in the world to come ye may have life everlasting. Amen.

Today was Sharon's big day, and many of us were there to witness this joyous occasion. Through the time of catching up with many old friends and seeing familiar faces, I began to run through in my mind how my wedding day would turn out to be...

Yet of cause, I am reminded again that in whatever I should do, it should be according to His Will. And I pray that in such "big" matters,  that I wait upon the Lord and trust in His faithfulness and goodness. Whether in marriage or in singlehood, I can still be an instrument for God and honour Him.

But by the day, my heart grows fonder. I will trust in God.
In every consideration, I can hardly find another. Yet I will trust in God.
Seeking counsel and praying, I know it is a choice favoured by many. Still I will trust in God.

Lord teach me. Teach me to wait upon You.
To love You first. So that in turn, I may love my to-be-wife as You love me.
Amen.

Faith

Thanks for being faithful despite my faithlessness.
Always been an encounter with you, never fails to surprise me.

Now I lay my hopes all behind me,
Because it seems that hope leads to disappointments.
Not that it is from Your word at all,
Just what I am feeling this season.

Stretch me, pull me, as far as You can,
I hope I'll never snap because you know my limits.
And I guess I'm coming to the end of the road,
Just shows how much I can do without You.

It's all wrong, I know.
I hope I'm wrong.
Yes.

A true disciple

To love the Lord with all thy heart and all thy mind and all thy soul and all thy strength

Thought for the day

God said in His word that the greatest of all is love.

God also said the greatest command is to love Him and to love others as oneself.

But how much do we care what He says...

I wonder...

Disciple-sheep

Today had the Gap where the youths intercede for the ministry and various committees.
Thank God for the willing hearts who turned up on time, really...

And during the prayer with Elaine and David for sparks, God put in my mind really interesting stuff...

Disciple-sheep...

*Uh?* Why sheep?

Then I saw David and Saul...2 guys who I have been reading about lately...
And then I reflected about the past few days of reading...

Ahh! God revealed something...

Hence I shall name the Mentoring committee as "Disciple-sheep"...
In due time, I'll let my boss know =D

So why David and Saul?
Well for David, as a little kid, he was sent to look after sheep...
Dumb and smelly sheep, what a degrading job...
But God showed me, that He trained David in herding sheep so that He can use him to take over King Saul in future...

David had to fight off lions and bears to protect his sheep...
David could have just let the sheep die but he chose the opposite...he risked his life as a boy...
Who would have thought, that the Almighty God could use this job to raise David up...
The boy, who could be trusted with little, was given even greater things in the future...

David later grew up to become King, and he was a people's king and a God-fearing King...
He was mindful of God in his early years unlike Saul, who sought to kill David out of jealousy...

So you might ask, how does this link to discipleship?

Well, I'm still asking God about this but I know now, that even a small boy like David was willing to risk his life for his sheep, how much more should we give our time and effort to the ones we are looking after and shepherding...

And God, the Great Shepherd of all who gave His one and only Son for the world, faithfully shepherds his children...

Every single one of them...
Including you reading this =)
God is love and God loves. He loves you and me very very much.
Do you dare to believe?

Living by grace

Now is day 2 of uni life..

Shall say things have simmered down and I thank God for bringing nice friends into my life..

Things are still very uncertain and I can't see myself ahead in a few years time..

Nevertheless, I will trust in Him who is faithful and good..

It has been a time of testing and more to come..
I'm amazed at how brittle and fragile my faith is..
Will I still be able to stand when the trials come?
Will I still be able to trust and believe in God?

Why am I even asking myself that question now?
I seriously don't know..
I find it really hard to love..
I'm single and I think I know why..

I need God's grace..Seriously

Love: the greatest of them all

It's been an awesome Sunday...

Loved today's worship..love the team..

There was an unspoken chemistry in the team and we could worship God and still worked together..

Message was great too..Rom 5:17 talking about God's provision of grace and gift of righteousness...

This weekend has been totally enriching and fulfilling...

Training with Sparks was great, David has a gifting for the Word I must say...
Now preparing to share cell bible study seems so much clearer than before...

After service headed to Dhoby Ghaut for late-lunch with church peeps...
Persuaded to watch HP with Joel and Mabel, oh thanks Joel for the movie treat!
I didn't know dumb-ber-door was suppose to be gay ahaha...
Was nodding off every now and then in the cinema ahaha...was just too tired...

Then after movie I couldn't decide between heading home or having dinner with Joel...
The usual-me would choose the former since I'm such a loner guy...
But I believe God had a plan for me to choose the latter...

Had my fav. western @ AMK S-11...And yes, the portion has shrunk!!!
Then had an awesome time of sharing and talking with Joel...
It's totally unexpected but I guess, it's true that hanging out with friends is really great...
It was nice to talk about stuff in church and God and love...
Nothing between us, just brotherly love! hahahahaha....

Oh well, I'm convinced that I should hang out with my friends more often...
Hope so and looking forward to it...

Heard this during morning service about the church being as one...
I'm still trying to come to terms with that...
If we are meant to be as one in the body of Christ,
then why can't we resolve our differences and issues?

I'll trust in God
I'll trust in You
I'll trust in You with all my heart

Love

I have always been pondering over this...

God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son so that those who believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16

This is a tough one.

I would rather give up my faith and salvation to Heaven than not be able to live out God's two greatest commandments that is to love Him and others as myself.

Cause I believe in love.

What would you do?

Muvees

Was just watching good luck chuck...
No wonder the lead actress is so hot, it's JESSICA ALBA hah

"To love someone/something is to be able to let it go"

Is that really true? Maybe it's the world's perception of love,
but somehow I think it does makes sense...

Maybe cause I am starting to let go,
maybe it doesn't really matter at all.

Love Love Love

Today strangely, I would say is about love =D

In youth service, Nic preached about brotherly love and I felt it was so timely a message.
Pray and ask God to bring friends to me and I myself make an effort to befriend others.

But I always asked myself, how far would I go for a friend? Lay down my life?

I suppose today God used the sermon to challenge me, though I thought it was a small favor.
If you, my dear reader, have been following me these years, you would know that I am a person with not many or nil close friends in my life. I meant in my opinion cause I know that there are friends are out there who will lay down their lives for me (I hope! hhaahaha).

But one thing's for sure. Be it whether there are such friends in my life,
I commit myself to being one like that.
So if you ever, ever need me to even lay down my life for you.
I'll be there for you my friends out there.
I'll be there.

Cause I know Jesus my Lord loves me so much,
and I'll choose to love the same way.

Love, love

Having talked to a friend about BGRs and stuff, I've come to realize several points.

Life's really interesting when you take a pause and look back.
